Andrew Herrmann: Where does milk come from? The Jewel, right? Dominick's, maybe? OK. OK. Even we urbanites know that milk comes from cows, of course. But where do cows come from? Anybody familiar with the birds and the bees can answer that one, too. But our notion of exactly how that happens is kind of hazy. No wonder: A century ago, about one out of three Americans lived on farms.

When she first became a scoutmaster in the late '90s, Boy Scouts leader Laura Dellaca didn't exactly blend in. "It was kind of unheard of for a woman to be a scoutmaster at that particular time," she says. After 11 years of leading Troop 990 at Our Lady of Victory Parish in Chicago, she and her boys are looking for a new home and new equipment.

Dave Hoekstra: What goes up, must come down. That's the memorable line from the Blood, Sweat and Tears hit "Spinning Wheel" as well as the mantra of the new Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, S.C. It's been a rough summer at the world's first rock 'n' roll theme park that opened June 2 and was profiled in my Detours column of July 6.

Paige Wiser: Mr. Rogers has left our neighborhood. You no doubt have heard by now that the beloved children's show is finally disappearing from WTTW-Channel 11, five years after Fred Rogers died. The ratings were down, and many PBS stations are ready for new programming.
