Derrick Rose is far from a self-promoter, but the Bulls rookie point guard didn't hesitate to offer an opinion when asked to assess his performance this season. ''I'm playing well,'' he said. ''I never thought that I'd play this well. I thought it would take a little bit longer. But I appreciate my coaches and my veterans helping me out with the offense and just with the whole game.''
The surest sign Devin Hester doesn't have his edge as a return man can be found in opponents' game plans. They're kicking to him these days without fear of reprisal. That's what Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy said after Hester was bottled up in the Packers' 37-3 victory over the Bears on Sunday at Lambeau Field.
