John O'Sullivan biography ::
John O'Sullivan is an Anglo-American political journalist who has held
senior editorial positions in newspapers and magazines on both sides of
the Atlantic. From 1986 to 1988 he was Special Advisor to Prime
Minister Margaret Thatcher in Ten Downing Street. He is currently a
regular columnist on the Chicago Sun-TImes, a Senior Fellow at the
Hudson Institute in Washington, Director of the Hudson Center for
European Studies, and Editor at Large of National Review magazine. Born
in Liverpool to an Irish father and an English mother, he was educated
by the Christian Brothers at St. Mary's College Crosby and graduated
from London University. His journalistic positions have included
Associate Editor of The Times of London, Editor of National Review
magazine, London Correspondent for Irish Radio and Television ,
Parliamentary Sketchwriter of the London Daily Telegraph, Editor in
Chief of United Press International, Editorial Page Editor of the New
York Post, Editor of The National Interest, and Editor of Policy
Review. He is married to Melissa Matthews O'Sullivan, who runs a small
business providing security services, and they live with her children
in Decatur, Alabama. In addition to his regular journalism, Mr.
O'Sullivan is writing a book on Reagan, Thatcher and Pope John Paul II.
His favorite pastimes include the theater, eating out, walking around
cities, and reading the novels of P.G. Wodehouse.
